My young son and I were hiking and saw something in the distance that was hairy but did not walk like a bear it was moving upright, not running it went off the logging road into the woods. We went back to our home as it was getting late. This was a few years ago. We have heard of many others in the area and they even made a movie near our place. Trinidad, California about 40 miles north of Eureka, California.
We have a campground and it is surrounded by Redwood National Park two state
parks and The Simpson Timber Company. We have lots of black bears and see
them often but this did not look like a bear and it did not move like one. We did
not get to close, -it just was there one second and gone the next.
