Stony Creek Lake, Shelby Township

My grandpa and I were fishing on Stony Creek one late afternoon; people fish there for pike, walleye, small-mouth bass, perch, bluegill, and crappie. It was growing dark when we looked over toward the south end and saw a tall, hairy man-like something eating what we believe was a squirrel or a rabbit.  Once it noticed us, it went into the water, leaping at least 15 feet in the air! It was huge, covered in dark fur. After a short while, we felt taps under our johnboat, then something started rocking the boat and there weren't any other boats making wakes around us. The bank area is rocky and flat land. My grandfather talked to an official at the park about this but all they suggested was that no bears were in the area, so they don't know what we saw. My grandpa said it was probably some guy in a costume, but no man can do what that thing was doing or swim underwater that far. I will never go to the lake again. Elmer A. W.
